You have been my fair-weather friend that's taught me so much, administering tough love when necessary and revealing unexpected victories. You've been the most interesting year that I've known thus far in my short 22 years, and I will always remember you with fondness. Why not take a trip down memory lane? Under your reign, you've taught me:

So many of us bright-eyed and bushy-tailed college seniors are ready to take on the world full force in just a few short weeks.
We stay positive, despite the reports telling us that college grads are struggling finding jobs, and we are determined that we have the skillset to stand out among the crowd. Even with our bright and shiny optimism, outlooks alone will not get us far. In my experience thus far, there are a few crucial skills that will guarantee our survival in the transition to the professional world: Trying to finish my last college semester feels like panting through the last round of a marathon. Drained and ready to throw in the towel, I finally see the glorious finish line! Being this delirious can inspire some pretty wacky thoughts that I felt the need to journalize. Fellow college seniors - holla if you hear me. Enjoy: So, I'm an incredible nerd. I'll be the second to admit it. But, my life is about to shoot off in approximately 236 different directions in the upcoming months, and I have to find a way to keep it together. This is where my trusty, handy dandy agenda planner comes in! *cue Blue's Clues music* Agenda planners are not always recognized as the effective tools of organization that they are. They are good for more than just their stylish way of complementing your dull, not-so-brightly-colored books/notepads. When used regularly, they do an excellent job of keeping record of your life goals, appointments and daily priorities.
It's hard not to agree with the popular saying: "youth is wasted on the young." Looking around at fellow members of my generation, it's discouraging to see so many of us living in a manner that resembles running in place - exerting a ton of energy, but moving nowhere at all.
Thinking about this made me reflect on myself, and I decided to have a 'man in the mirror' moment. I often let the excuse of a packed schedule overrule my aspirations, and I tell myself that I'll have time to accomplish them later. At the risk of sounding like an Everest commercial, I say: the time is now! With minimal obligations & considerable opportunities, now is an ideal time to kickstart our dreams. In an effort to officially sanction a more action-oriented, and dream-fulfilling, life, I have written a list composed of 25 (or more) things that I want to accomplish by the age of 25. *side note: right now, I am 21.* I'm reaching the bittersweet end of my journey as a PR student and intern (blog post about this coming soon). There are definitely some great lessons I've pulled from my coursework in PR, But I've gained far more practical gems through my internships thus far.
My previous internship, and most challenging/rewarding one yet, was at a public relations agency. Working in an agency that is all things PR is an incredibly different experience than my past internships, and I hope to share my most recent "learnings" with my fellow PR students. As fall comes into full swing, I find myself easily falling back into the low buzz and high energy of a college campus. With laptops in one hand and Starbucks in the other, college students have accepted the unfortunate death of our summer adventures.
However, as I reflect on this summer's events (or lack of them), a few lessons come to mind and I hope to share them: Last night's MTV-hosted Video Music Awards definitely wasn't the most memorable as past years, but it had some shining moments.. as well as some lackluster ones.
From style choices to stage stuttering, anything is bound to happen when you throw half of Hollywood into the same room. Check out the highlights below: PITS:
accomplishments, there was a live-feed mic testing over the sound system. Uhm.. yeah we can hear you.
So… this is weird. In just a matter of days, I will be entering my very last semester of school. EVER.
*inserts shocked face emoji* I’ve been oscillating back and forth between uber excitement and sheer terror. School has been my biggest comfort zone since.. well… forever. I can’t ever remember not being in school. The whole idea of having to face the looming future and put on my big girl panties is intimidating. And a little unsettling, to say the least. Hello Fraps!
I recently had the esteemed pleasure of taking an opportunity extended to Florida students by the Florida Public Relations Association to take a PR tour of the Disney headquarters. I was too excited! We heard from people in all areas of PR at Disney, and I learned ohhhh-so-much. |
